Further Research Needed
There is always more to find out about Rowntree histories and our own research projects often lead to areas which need exploring further. This means that we are well placed to help researchers find areas of interest to explore. This includes prospective research students to identify research topics to develop for their PhD or Masters thesis projects, as well as independent researchers and historians. We are able to assist by discussing potential future research emerging from our work or gaps in our understanding of Rowntree histories. In addition, we can share our existing knowledge and research findings.
We are currently particularly interested in further research in these areas:
- Rowntree colonial histories and legacies
- The involvement of Rowntree Trusts and family members in newspaper ownership
- Rowntree family political connections
- York Adult Schools
- Welfare at work
- Seebohm Rowntree’s involvement with trade unions
- Political connections associated with the Rowntree family
…but we welcome approaches of interest in any area of Rowntree histories.
Please email us at info@rowntreesociety.org.uk if you are interested in discussing research in any of these areas or other aspects of Rowntree histories.
