The Rowntree Society visits Huntington Explore Library!

The Rowntree Society is celebrating the Joseph Rowntree Centenary this year and in doing so is engaging with York’s communities across the city! Come along to handle objects ranging from Rowntrees sweets/chocolates boxes, a hands-on ‘game’ which was actually an entry test to see whether you could work in the factory, and magazines which the Rowntrees factory produced for its workers to read. We are looking to connect with anyone with an interest in Rowntree history, or with a personal connection to the Rowntree factory or family! We would love to find out from you what your memories and experiences of the Rowntrees in York are, and to understand what connection you feel today to the Rowntree influence in York and surrounding areas.
