Rowntree Political Connections & Influences

From 2025 we have been undertaking a project about Rowntree Political Connections and Influences. This built on our ‘New Rowntree Histories’ project from 2022.

• The first part of the project involved researching the trade unions at Rowntree’s in the 1920s – you can find out more here.

• The second part of the project explored the Rowntree family’s newspaper ownership in the early 20th century.  You can read about some of our findings here and watch our Autumn 2026 event on YouTube here.

• The third part of this project looked at the political ideas, influences and connections surrounding the Rowntree family. You can read more about this here and this will be the focus of our upcoming Autumn event, more details here.
