Three people unveil a plaque

A Plaque on Pavement for Joseph Rowntree

Look out for the commemorative plaque for Joseph Rowntree outside Pizza Hut, on Pavement, the site of the building where he was born.  As with Seebohm’s plaque, we collaborated with the York Civic Trust and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation for this plaque to mark the place where the Rowntree story in York all began. The official unveiling was by Julia Unwin CBE, Chief Executive of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, and Peter Addyman CBE, of the York Civic Trust on Monday 29 October 2014. Bridget Morris, then Executive Director of The Rowntree Society, is pictured on the right.
