William Stickney Rowntree

William Stickney Rowntree (1848 – 1939) lived in Scarborough throughout most of his adult life. He was a notable citizen of the town, establishing a successful drapery business and living to become the oldest magistrate the town has ever had. Alongside his cousin Joshua Rowntree, he helped establish an Adult School in Scarborough.

In 1876, he married Anna Mary Doncaster (1849–1938), who was the sister of Helen Doncaster Rowntree, second wife of John Stephenson Rowntree and stepmother to Arnold Stephenson Rowntree. They had four children.
